Duke

Below are some pictures from Duke's first few days with us. Hope you enjoy.
Picture #1 is "Airplane Papaw", Kim McMorries, introducing Duke to his new world. Being the first family member to hold Duke is one of the perks of being both the grandfather and the Dr. performing the C-Section. His friend, Dr. Tony Haskins, also helped on the C-Section. They both did a fantastic job in treating Karen and watching out for Karen & Duke's best interest.

This is Lauren holding her two new babies. They were delivered the same day as Duke. This picture is about the only moment she has held them because once she met Duke she is absolutely the most caring and protective big sister ever! She has adjusted incredibly well so far to the new family dynamics and is absolutely the best daughter ever.

Proud dad and new baby boy. He is such a great baby!

If you are wondering what Lauren and Duke have been doing since his birth on Feb. 11.....this shows it all. Lauren demands to hold Duke regularly and will hold him for hours at a time. Duke is a great baby boy but somehow gets even better when being held by his favorite sister. He just melts in her arms. They both love each other so much.
We thank God for such healthy and beautiful children and also for our wonderful family and friends.

Baby Boy Young

Here is a picture of our baby boy! He is due to make his grand appearance around February 21, 2010. He is only 17 weeks old and already training to keep up with his sister. Mom and baby are both healthy and getting along fine. :)

Oh yeah, Lauren and I are doing just fine too.

While I was gone, part 1

Lauren went on her first plane trip! Her mom and grandma (aka "Grammy") were great travel partners to help Lauren find the proper gates....and shopping. Dad was traveling in Texas for work, so he wasn't on the trip to Arizona. Look at the following picture - can you guess who is flying for the first time? :)

She was flying to Arizona to meet her great grandpa & grandpa Vinsant for the first time.

Another first, and a must do if you are in Arizona, was Lauren going swimming. She is a natural.
After a well deserved nap and.....

a brief sweet potato break...

it was time to sit down and visit with the great grandparents.

Week 25

I might as well lay down for a nap today.

HAHA - Just kidding! A nap.....that's a good one!!

Why sleep when we can eat! By the way, am I doing this spoon thing correctly?

And a dessert that you can't go wrong with......

Week 22

Lauren is getting so big. She loves drinking out of her new sippy cup. As you can see, she is quite good at it for a five month old.

This picture is of my two fun girls after a basketball game. Lauren's laugh is VERY contagious....watch out!!

Christmas, what's Christmas?

She may not have known the meaning of Christmas, but Lauren sure didn't need directions on how to open her presents.
Dad had his best Christmas ever:

Week 13

Wow, what another busy week for Lauren. Two of the highlights are below.
Lauren got to experience her first live basketball game and is already a big fan. As you can see by Lauren's reaction in the picture - the Harding Lady Bison already had the game well under control, so Lauren took a nap.

Lauren was also really excited to see Joel, Kelly, and Jesse Odell. FUN FACT: They were our first visitors at the hospital to see Lauren. The Odell's were walking into our hospital room when Lauren made her first noises out of the womb. Of course they didn't get very far since our outstanding nurse bull rushed them and politely shoved them out into the hall. :) Good times.

Lauren and Jesse both did a great job behaving while we all went to eat at Doc's Grill. Then we all went and visited Harding's campus to see the impressive Christmas light display and for the Odell's to see the newly renovated Heritage Center (the building my office is located).

Week 11

Amy was here for the beginning of Lauren's week 11. She was kind enough to act interested in seeing Steve's office at Harding and to even ask questions about my job. We all know she was only here to see Lauren. :)

As you can see, Lauren was happyAmy came to visit. And yes Lauren did leave something with Aunt Amy for her to remember Lauren, but due to this bloggers respect for Amy I will not post any further evidence of said mark....BUT IT WAS A GOOD ONE!

What do you do after hosting so many family and friends during your first 11 weeks of life? That's right - you cuddle up tightly with mommy and suck your thumb.

We love you Lauren!

Week Nine

Another great week in Lauren's life. We are so glad that Lauren and her uncle Todd were able to meet each other for the first time. The picture obove is of Karen, Lauren, and I all empathizing with each others flu's. Yes, Lauren got to experience her first viral infection this past week. Todd did an outstanding job with Lauren and also was a tremendous blessing to Karen and me.

Lauren's Week Seven

Week seven in Lauren's life was filled with a whole lot of first time experiences. Among the many "firsts" that she had she especially loved getting to meet her great uncle Dave, great aunt Cheryl, and cousin Shane.

Another one of many "firsts" for Lauren was getting to experience the IHOP in Searcy, AR. "Grammy" & Grandpa McMorries came by in their new motor home for breakfast last Sunday. We all had a good time. Lauren enjoyed her first ride in a motor home, but mostly just loved the attention!

Note for Heather Keene: Karen & Lauren love the customized homemade diaper bag you had made for Lauren. Karen asked me to post this particular picture to make sure you saw the bag in use. :)
