Adventures of a 10 month old

Duke will be turning 10 months old in a few days, and he has just cut two top middle teeth today, bringing his grand total to 4 teeth (others are on the bottom middle). I heard him grinding his teeth this evening and thought, that's a new noise...wait a minute...you can't grind teeth when you only have teeth on the bottom!!! :O

He also has begun waving "bye-bye" this week. He gets just as excited as we do when he masters a new skill. So much fun to watch him grin and giggle with delight.

Duke has mastered crawling now, and is standing effortlessly for long periods of time, while holding onto a piece of furniture. Sometimes he'll let go with one or both hands to show off for a few seconds. Lauren was walking at 10 months, so it looks like she has a competitive brother who wants to do no less than match his sister's skills.

Duke has a few words that he says daily. His favorite word (and person) by far is "DaDa". He also says "MaMa", "LaLa" (Lauren), "NaNa" (milk), "aw wa wa" (I love you)...no seriously, if we tell him we love him, he says these 3 sylables back, and sometimes shows us the ASL sign for I love you (his version, of course). :)

Where are YOU going?

Lauren may be the most decisive person I have met. The following picture is adorable and all but for some reason it just serves as a great reminder to me of how Lauren always knows where she wants to go and what she wants to do. She is becoming quite an amazing girl.

Too Cute

Duke has increased in size considerably since this picture was taken in March. But the picture is too cute not to show the world at least once. :)

Your Arizona Tour Guide

While most the "snowbirds' are heading for the hills, it is still a fantastic time to visit family, friends, beautiful scenery, and lots of area attractions here in sunny Scottsdale, AZ.

P.S. Thank you to all the visitors we have had this Spring! You all are dearly loved and greatly missed. We look forward to seeing you all again as soon as possible. :)

He is awake!

For those of you who have visited, here is a picture of what Duke looks like when he is awake. For those of you who have not visted yet, Duke loves to sleep and you literally might have to be around all day to see his eyes open for a few minutes.

Quality Time

Duke doesn't really care for a feeding from a bottle, but he'll put up with just about anything to spend some quality time with his big sister.

Open Gym

Lauren and her dad have been able to attend Open Gym where State works on Saturday mornings a couple of times and she absolutely loves it. Here are some photos of her from this past week doing her favorite activity. She is normally the youngest there and she does a fantastic job.

Duke

Below are some pictures from Duke's first few days with us. Hope you enjoy.
Picture #1 is "Airplane Papaw", Kim McMorries, introducing Duke to his new world. Being the first family member to hold Duke is one of the perks of being both the grandfather and the Dr. performing the C-Section. His friend, Dr. Tony Haskins, also helped on the C-Section. They both did a fantastic job in treating Karen and watching out for Karen & Duke's best interest.

This is Lauren holding her two new babies. They were delivered the same day as Duke. This picture is about the only moment she has held them because once she met Duke she is absolutely the most caring and protective big sister ever! She has adjusted incredibly well so far to the new family dynamics and is absolutely the best daughter ever.

Proud dad and new baby boy. He is such a great baby!

If you are wondering what Lauren and Duke have been doing since his birth on Feb. 11.....this shows it all. Lauren demands to hold Duke regularly and will hold him for hours at a time. Duke is a great baby boy but somehow gets even better when being held by his favorite sister. He just melts in her arms. They both love each other so much.
We thank God for such healthy and beautiful children and also for our wonderful family and friends.
